Wow has this been a crazy 6 months for me. After living my whole life on the run, the folks at Allegan Shelter brought me inside. I was so scaredI wouldnt even look at them for weeks and weeks! But finally, I learned that they were pretty nice folks who fed me, kept me warm and dry and took me out for walks (that leash thing was pretty crazy). I just about got use to them and out I went for a new adventure. Suddenly I had a mom and dad and a poodle-like sister named Ama. The next thing I knew I was moving about like a gypsy - from houseboat, to Rv, to house, to cottage and in each new place I found a hidey-hole so I could feel safe. But now I love all these spotsand especially riding in the car to get from one to another. Ive learned so much! I know my name and come when Im called (usually). I walk on my lead but really love to run free through the woods. I always keep my pack in site and am the first to sprint to the door on the way backare you kidding, being a house dog is way better than living in the wild, and Im not taking a chance of being left out in the cold ever again. Ive learned sleeping on the couch is great and Im safe without hiding. I sit to be fed and to get my leash on, and I never, never push my sister away from her food bowl, even though I am a little piggy, cuz my mom gets mad. I can be naughty when left alone if I can get to the trash can or if there is food on the counter. If those temptations are removed, Im a good girl and can wait at home without issues. Food is a big motivator for me, having had to scrounge to live for so long, but I share well and dont guard my plate. I can usually be tricked into doing just about anything if my sister does it first and gets lots of attention for it. Though I can still be nervous and shy, I love having my head and ears rubbed too much to miss out. I think I am ready for my furever. I hope I can find someone who is patient with me and understands that I really want to be their super special pet, -it takes me a little longer to feel comfortable than some other guys.
